Don’t Forget To Use Your Sunscreen!

Well what a brilliant start to summer? The weekend has been glorious but we’re a bit concerned that we’re seeing a lot of red faces walking around today. We know that you’re busy and that sometimes the British sun doesn’t seem to be burning bright enough for you to get a tan but you’ve got to remember to slap on that sunscreen.

The only thing you really need to know when it comes to sunscreen is that you’ve got to use it - religiously. It really does make THE best moisturiser so there is no excuse. Even if you’re not planning on spending a great deal of your day outside, you still have to apply a layer - sunscreen isn’t just for days lounging on the beach you know.

It’s more important than ever to get your daily dose of vitamin D - but not at the expense of your health. Skin cancer is on the increase and suntan lotion is scientifically proven to decrease the development of the disease.

To be honest, we think it’s enough that it helps protects against cancer but it also does wonders for your skin. It slows down the development of ageing skin and fights against wrinkles, brown spots and skin discolouration.

So how much should you use? First of all, don’t think it’s just your face that needs to have some sunscreen loving, you need to use it all over. Around a shot glass sized dollop should suffice. Remember - the thinner the layer - the less cover that you have.

Depending on your activities you need to re-apply every one to four hours. If you’re doing sports or sweating a lot then you need to make sure that you’re adding more on hourly.

When choosing the right sunscrreen, do make sure that you use a sunscreen that protects you against both UVA and UVB rays. Go for an SPF 30 - even if the sun isn’t that strong - it really is better to be safe than sorry.

If you wear makeup then don’t let that put you off using sun protection. Simply apply the sunscreen before your moisturiser and make up. You can also use a foundation with added SPF.

Whatever your plan this summer, remember that just adding in some simple sun-tan lotion can save your life and help you maintain your youthful good looks.
